Agency iPhones

Each member of the team has been issued an iPhone owned by the US Coast Guard for all duty-related purposes. All communications for an official or duty-related purpose must be conducted via call, text, or e-mail from the issued phones. No personal business should be conducted via the phone as all phones are subject to subpoena or usage reviewed as requested by the chain of command or courts.

USCG Official Email, Portals, and Database may only be accessed by a secure US Coast Guard owned devices such as an issued work laptop (used at the desk as well via a dock and peripheral devices at desk no desktops PCs provided) or iPhone.

Agent Safety Reporting/Communications

While conducting official duties on an investigation, follow-up, or interviews regarding a possible case Agents must via their Agent Safety Reporting (ASR) App note which team vehicle they are driving (license plates listed in the drop-down menu), the agents with them, and their location and purpose. One member of each team must enter ASR at least once every 30 minutes while at the location or it will send alert notifications to the rest of the team. If a team member does not acknowledge it will alert additional members within the chain of command.

While operating on a Coast Guard base with a Coast Guard PD or surrounding areas with reliable radio communications CGIS agent may be assigned a portable radio to give status updates directly to the police dispatcher. Units must still be logged in to ASR and their status noted that they will be in contact with a police dispatcher at all times via phone and radio. Team members will be assigned a callsign for use with their vehicle.

When operating via police dispatch agents must call the dispatch center and place themselves on duty with who will be in the vehicle and the callsign(s) they will be utilizing. Dispatchers must be notified if leaving their service area and switching to only ASR or if going off duty.
